We are a family breeder of Golden Retrievers located in the Litchfield Hills of Northwest Connecticut. We began by breeding our first golden retriever many years ago for our family to experience and enjoy and have been breeding one litter every few years ever since. We have a pedigree of 5 generations, our dogs are all AKC registered and every litter is beautiful and healthy. Each of our dogs only has one or two litters, they are not overbred (we are NO puppy mill). Our litters are usually whelped in the Spring so that the pups first 8-9 weeks are spent on our vast property where they can run and play in the soft grass, experience digging in dirt and even swimming in our lovely pond. The puppies also experience interaction with other dogs, cats and ducks and of course people! Our puppies turn into wonderful, loving family dogs. Our Golden Retrievers are AKC purebreds but we do not breed show dogs, our puppies are meant for a good home with a loving family who will enjoy them as much as we do! Important differences between breeders and Puppy Mills... stay away!
99% of dogs found in a petstore are from a puppymill! Puppymills have litters evey time the females go into heat, they OVERBREED dogs purely to sell them to petstores for profit, and why do petstores sell puppies.... for profit. Breeders have a love for their dogs and a love for their breed.
~An animal shelter is a great way to find a dog if you are not looking for a purebred dog. But please know what to look for at a breeder to be sure you are NOT at a puppymill!
Know What to Look For:
~ We only breed a litter every few years and each of our dogs only has one or two litters in their lifetime.
~ You will see the mother of the puppies on site, roaming freely as well as the grandmother and great-grandmother.
~Our 5-generation pedigree is available!
~ You will never see any cages for our dogs or puppies, we simply don't believe in them. Our dogs are inside the house and have free reign of our large yard whenever they please. The puppies are born inside the house and spend their first few weeks there until they are sturdy on their feet. Then they are moved to an indoor/outdoor pen where they are outdoors daily and taken out of the pen daily, brought in the house, into the main yard, interact with our other animals, etc.
~ The pup's area is clean and comfortable and the puppies are happy and energetic.
